We have a desire for how life is supposed to go based on how it’s gone in the past or how it has worked out for others. The story of the American Dream, told over and over by our society, informs our view of life, how we practice our faith and even what we expect of God. And when he doesn’t come through for us in the way the story we have believed says he should, it leaves us empty.
